Altruistic reports: Velvet Dishon reported back on her findings on The Red Scarf Project. This is a charity knitting project to make scarves for foster children heading to college. The scarves can be knitted in all variations of red and other colors may be used as long as red is the dominant color. They will accept the scarf donations from 9/1-12/15/13. Velvet will need a volunteer to head up this project. Another project that Velvet was contacted about is the Ground Cover Public Art Project – this is a City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture project and they are looking to create a quilt/blanket – made from crocheted, knitted and quilted squares. Twenty eight (28) blocks are needed for a finished blanket/quilt of 10’ x 10’. The project is to be completed by 10/1/13. The blanket/quilt will be then broken up to distribute to the homeless. Further information can be found at www.statepress.com/2013/02/28/ground-cover-public-art-project. Velvet will also need a volunteer to head up this project as well. Dawn stated that she has a friend who has also been made aware of this project and she will get further information about it. Members expressed interest in participating in both projects. Please contact Velvet with any questions regarding both projects.
Velvet will be distributing yarn at the April 2013 for the next Project Linus blanket.

Nominating Committee: Barb Hahn reported that they are accepting nominations for new officers and committee members. They will be meeting in March and results will be announced at the April meeting. Please contact Barb to nominate a member.
