Secretary’s Report
Francine noted that she had not signed up to host a knit-together in September, but would do it if no one else had signed up. Georgia questioned whether the Power Point presentation had been posted to the CNKG website, but it had not been as yet. Francine made a motion, seconded by Donna, to approve the minutes as posted on the Guild website.
Committee/Chair Reports
Altruistic – Velvet Dishon & Mali Pistiner: Velvet brought in yarn for altruistic projects and we were welcome to take what we wish. Hats & scarves for Navajo Nation will be collected in October. June’s ‘ladies’ have contributed a large collection. Keep in mind they must be washable.
Scarves for veterans can be brought to either the October or November meetings. Items for Esperanza can be made in any type of yarn. However, if it is natural fiber, please tag it. Esperanza items will be due in the Spring.
Treasurer’s Report – Cynthia Peplinski: The balance as of August 9 is $3,463.88. There was no activity during the rest of that month. If anyone hasn’t paid their dues, please do so.
Old Business
Centennial Blanket – Francine said that Darlene Ong took it to several places while at her summer home. If you want the blanket, contact Francine. We did receive a $1,300 grant from the State of Arizona.
She mentioned that Darlene had a car accident and broke several bones. A card is being sent from the Guild.
Knit Togethers – Martie Warden will be hosting the September knit-together.
New Business
Jackie Awerman --  Regina reported that Jackie Awerman, the founder of  CNKG in 1993, has suffered severe medical issues of great cost. A fund was set up -- gofundme.com/12y58s -- to help with these expenses. Regina made a suggestion that the Guild make a donation “from her children”. It was suggested and supported by others that we give her a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Executive Board will meet to discuss this and decide how much this award should be. If anyone wants to make a personal donation, please go to the website mentioned above.
Project Linus – Judie Agee attended a blanket bee fundraiser for Project Linus over the weekend. She received a donation from a lady of 94 good quality balls of yarn. She is selling them for $2 each.
Southwest Trading – Velvet mentioned that the annual warehouse clearance sale for Southwest Trading is Saturday, October 6, from 7:00am to noon and Sunday, October 7 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. However, they have agreed to have a sneak preview for CNKG on Friday, October 5 from 12 noon to 3:00pm. Yarn is from $2 to $5. They have relocated. Their new address is 2205 W. Lone Cactus Drive, #17, Phoenix. It will be inside this time.
Program – CNKG Website
Martie reviewed the website with Cara & John Summerfield over the weekend and compiled a wonderful handout entitled “How to Navigate Our Website” plus an information page on how to update your information. She gave 3 reasons for the website: (1) so people can find us; (2) for communications from officers to members; and (3) as a member resource. If you would like a copy of this handout, please email Martie.
Regina asked if it would be possible to alphabetize members by first name, as well as last. Martie will ask Cara.
Next month is the CNKG birthday – that means CAKE!
Show and Share followed the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
