Barb Hahn called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.
Martie’s report was read by Harriet. There were no new members and no visitors. There are six May birthdays: Loretta Milton, Carole Byrne, Bev Walker, Sandy Grunow, Martie Warden and Donna Sherrill.
Francine made a motion, seconded by Sandy, to approve the minutes as posted on the Guild website.
Altruistic – There was no altruistic report this month due to the absence of both Velvet and Cathrine.
Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Spaich: The balance as of April 30, 2012 is $3,249.38. Two dues were paid. Lisa reminded everyone that dues of $24 are due in June for the new fiscal year beginning July 1.
Centennial Blanket – Jo-Ann reported that we have decided not to participate in the Chandler Centennial event on May 8. It was going to be too expensive. Please contact places in your neighborhood, such as libraries, senior centers, etc. to show the blanket. At the end of the month the blanket is going to Gold Canyon. Contact Francine if you want to display the blanket.
Sandy has a photographer friend who is willing to take a picture of the blanket that we could then use to make note cards. We will explore the different ways of producing note cards. Martie has a son who works for Staples and we will ask her to speak with him. VistaPrint is another possibility and there are on-line sites, such as Shutterfly, where you can upload your picture and make your own note cards.
Harriet sent an email to The Knitting Guild Association with pictures and the blanket history attached and they are going to mention our blanket in the “Guild News” section of “Cast On”. They said to watch for the August-October issue.
Host your own knit-together – May and June are open for a knit-together.
The new Board takes over in July. Barb has offered to be the editor of the newsletter. Articles should come from members. Georgia suggested that we come up with section headings. Regina suggested a section called “The way we were” with pictures and articles about the guild in years past. Jo-Ann suggested we interview a different guild member for each issue. Please send Barb any ideas you have for other sections. Barb is aiming to produce the next newsletter in July or August.
Barb is also taking over photography.
Program – Provisional Cast On
Liz showed us how to do a provisional cast on using two different strands of yarn.
Show and Share followed the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.
