Membership

Secretary’s Report

Liz Rees made a motion, seconded by Marsha French, to approve the minutes as posted on the Guild website.

Committee/Chair Reports

Altruistic – Velvet:  The blanket for Project Linus, for which many of us contributed strips, has been completed and was shown at the meeting.  Velvet distributed yarn for another Project Linus blanket.  For those of you who took a skein, use #8 needles, cast on 30 stitches, work in garter stitch and use the entire skein.  Velvet delivered bags of knitted items to Esperanca.  They were delighted to receive them.  Our Special Olympics scarves went to Connecticut and we received a thank you note.

Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Spaich:  The balance as of March 31, 2012 is $3,193.38.  We paid out some expenses for the Centennial Blanket and received dues from Lonnie Zbiegien, Mali Pistener and Robin Starace.

Old Business

Centennial Blanket – Barbara Avrin currently has the blanket.  She showed it on Saturday.  The next showing is on Friday, May 18 at the Chandler Centennial Event.  Our blanket is one of the 100 artists.  Cara needs people from 4:00 to 10:00pm to serve two-hour shifts.  Contact Cara if you are interested.

The website now has a “Centennial” tab.  We hope to have a list of where the blanket has gone.  We need a volunteer to take e-mail inquiries about the blanket.

Host your own knit-together –  Jo-Ann Mullen and Francine Ebersman will be hosting a knit-together on April 29 at 2pm at Jo-Ann’s home.  They are having an old fashioned Sundae bar.  Watch for the announcement or, if you know you will be attending, RSVP to Francine.

Nominating Committee --  Chaired by Francine, the nominating committee also included Carole Byrne, Cynthia Peplinski and Regina Esposito.  The proposed Board is:

            President                     Dawn Goetz

            Vice President             Martie Warden

            Treasurer                     Cynthia Peplinski
            Secretary                     Jennifer Wujcik

Donna Sherrill moved that the nominations be closed and accepted as read.  Fran Frazin seconded the nomination.  The new Board will be effective July 1, 2012.

Dawn will be looking for volunteers for the various committees.  Francine talked about how you can help.  Some of the committees are on-going, such as Altruistic, Membership and Communications.  Some are short-term, such as the Holiday Party committee.  If you think you might be interested and want more information, talk to those who have chaired these committees in the past or contact Francine or Barb Hahn.

New Business
There was no new business.

Program – Applied I-Cord

Dawn showed us all how to finish a swatch with an Applied I-Cord.  Many of us had never done this before and we were all happy to add this skill to our finishing techniques.

Show and Share followed the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
