Martie welcomed two visitors, Mali Pistiner and Lonnie Zbiegien. We have one new member, Robin Starace. There are two March birthdays – Jackie Taylor and Judie Agee.
Secretary’s Report
Barbara Avrin made a motion, seconded by June Whisel to approve the minutes as posted on the Guild website.
Committee/Chair Reports
Altruistic – Velvet:  The blanket for Project Linus for which many of us contributed strips is being put together and will be brought to the next meeting. There will also be a new blanket for us to knit at the next meeting. Francine mentioned that the yarn being sold today at $2 per skein will be donated to our altruistic projects.
Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Spaich: The balance as of February 29, 2012 is $3,208.60.
Old Business
Centennial Blanket – The blanket was a “star” at the State House. It is now making its way around. Francine said we need a volunteer to track the whereabouts of the blanket. Jo-Ann is doing it now but we will need someone to take this over when Jo-Ann leaves in May for Colorado.
Georgia said that while she had the blanket, she took photos of the individual squares in high resolution. Contact her if you want a photo of your square. We need people to show the blanket. Please step up. Harriet is going to draft an article to send to The Knitting Guild Association along with photos of the blanket with the hope that they will put us in their magazine or on their website.
Host your own knit-together – Sue Garber is hosting a knit-together on Saturday, March 24 from 12:30pm to 4:00pm. She will be serving “lunchable snacks”. Please RSVP to her by March 20.
Francine and Jo-Ann will be hosting a knit-together in the later part of April. No date or details yet other than the fact that it will be in south Scottsdale.
New Business
Nominating Committee -- Francine will be chairing the committee in Cara’s absence. We need to select a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Francine needs two members to help. Please contact her. We will also be looking for members to serve on various committees, such as Altruistic, Membership, Communications, etc.
Program – Yarn Exchange
Members who brought yarn exchanged it for “Cactus Notes” which were awarded according to the amount and type of yarn that they brought. They then used the “Cactus Notes” to bid on available yarn. As usual, the yarn exchange was lots of fun, with many bidding wars.
Show and Share followed the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.
