ARIZONA CENTENNIAL BLANKET TRAVEL AND PRESENTATIONS
It’s now time to plan our presentations and related travel for the Centennial Blanket Project.
We need Guild members to make presentations in the greater Phoenix area. These will be half-day or one-day trips and will involve getting the materials, setting up the display, leading the discussion about the blanket and returning the materials to their storage area. It would be ideal if 2 or 3 Guild members were at each of these sessions.
We will also need Guild members to make overnight trips to outlying areas. It would be best if each trip could cover 2 towns or cities. A two-city trip could be 2 nights in length. Mileage and hotel reservations (2 people to a room) at a reasonably priced hotel (similar to a Fairfield Inn, Comfort Inn etc) will be provided. A modest food allowance will also be included.
The first step is determining who is going where. Scheduling of the visits follows. We have from February - December of 2012 to do these presentations we need to get them scheduled well in advance.
Cathrine is heading up the development of the Discussion Guides and these will be available for presenters to use during their sessions. There isn’t any research/homework for presenters to develop.
Each presentation will take place at a library or senior center or other suitable facility that is open to the public and willing to schedule us and get the word out about the visit. A poster of the blanket and a copy of the discussion/study guide will be left at each site.
Please contact Jo-Ann Mullen at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know if you would like to be involved in a presentation.
Let her know if you would like to do a day trip and if you have a location in Phoenix, a suburb or outlying town where you would like to be scheduled.
If you would like to do an overnight trip, indicate where you’d like to go and if there is another Guild member you would like to travel with (please talk with this person and submit your request together).
Please indicate to Jo-Ann know if there is a time of year that you prefer.
Jo-Ann will let you know if your request is going to work. She’ll also let the Guild know if there are parts of AZ that aren’t covered and will seek volunteers for those areas.
WHAT A GREAT WAY TO SHOWCASEW THE GUILD’S TALENT!
