The meeting was called to order at 6:28pm by Barb Hahn.
Marti welcomed two visitors – Judy and Tom Rutila. We have three April birthdays – Janet Buchanan, Harriet Lawrence and Andra Crossland. There are no new members.
Martie Warden made a motion, seconded by Leslie Fry, to approve the minutes as amended.
Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Spaich: Lisa reported that with the addition of three new members, our current balance is $3,098.22.
Altruistic – Velvet Dishon & Cathrine McClure: Velvet brought in an abundance of yarn to be used for altruistic projects. Dawn is collecting articles for Japan. See further information under “New Business”. .
Velvet is also collecting strips for Project Linus blankets. Please make strips 30 stitches wide on #8 needles. Check the CNKG website. Click on ‘Altruistic’ then “ Altruistic Patterns” for the Stepped Edge Blanket Pattern.
We are also still collecting for Esperanca and Veterans’ scarves.
Knit-togethers -- Francine and Jo-Ann will host a wine tasting knit-together on April 28 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Francine’s home. Please RSVP to either Francine or Jo-Ann.
Barbara Avrin, Hillary Guberman and Carolina Martinez will host a knit-together on May 14 at 1:00pm at Barbara’s home in Gold Canyon. Please RSVP to Barbara Avrin.
Nominating Committee – Cara: The slate for next year is the same as this year.

A motion was made by Regina Esposito, seconded by Barbara Arvin, to approve the slate.
Since there was a quorum was present, the membership voted, and the slate was accepted unanimously,
Monthly Knit-togethers: Regina said that she went to Walden Books at Bell Rd. & 3rd St. We are welcome to meet there on Tuesday, April 12 from 6:00pm to closing. Regina will confirm that we can bring in food & drinks. Another option is Phoenix Knits on 7th St. north of Camelback.
Distinguished Member Awards -- There will be two awards. (1) CNKG Distinguished Service Award, which can be awarded once each year. It comes with a $100 award. (2) CNKG Outstanding Contribution Award, which can be awarded at any time and does not have a monetary award. More information about these awards will be posted on the CNKG website.
Knitting for Japan – Dawn explained that Miko Alexander at Tempe Yarn & Fiber will be collecting items for Japan through October of this year and personally bringing them to Japan. Please do not make large items. They want hats, scarves, leg warmers and gloves. Check TY&F’s website for the scarf pattern “Dan doh Scarf – Knitted Hug for Japan”.
Program – Centennial Blanket – Liz Rees
Liz distributed charts for the Centennial Blanket to the nine people who will be working on the blanket. Each person’s completed piece must fit the size of the chart. Each person was given a bag of both dark and light colors and instructions for the blanket. Liz explained the process of intarsia knitting. The goal is to have all pieces completed by August. She asked that we all use the long-tail cast-on method. If anyone has any questions, please contact Liz.
