Martie advised three birthday’s for March, Jackie, Joan & June. CNKG obtained 3 new members for a total membership of 51.
Francine made motion to accept, seconded by Liz, the minutes as posted on the guild website.
Altruistic-Velvet Dishon. Esperanca items were given to Christina Aranzia, representative of Esperanca. She then told us about how Esperanca started and is currently in five countries. We can find them at www.esperanca.org.
Treasurer’s Report-Lisa Spaich-We increased our balance by $270 from the yard sale at Francine’s. Current balance is now $3,062.62
Westminster Village- Jackie Taylor- Jackie gave scarves to Esperanca from the Happy Hookers of Westminster Village. There were ten afghans donated to Project Linus also from the Happy Hookers of Westminster Village.
In addition Jackie provided bags of Bay Leaves as symbols of good luck, a Penn. Dutch tradition.
Old Business- Westminster Village has decided to forgo having CNKG attend the Saturday knit-in.
Borders & Books-discussion about where to meet since Border’s has closed. We should check for other possibilities such another night, knitting shops, or food courts at the mall. Barb asked that we contact our local yarn shops to see who is opened and what nights are available.
Knit Together- April 28th at Francine’s she and Joann will host a knit & Wine Tasting from 5-7 PM. May 14 at Barbara Avrin’s home in Gold Canyon.
New Business- Judie Agee passed out lottery tickets. She attended Stitches West and met Ally McGraw who is involved with Ally’s Caps. Judie purchased 5 Ally Caps kits and proceeded to pull the lottery 5 members won a kit each:
Mary, Darlene, Martie, Cara & Yvette.
Judie gave a brief description of what Stitches West is.
Cara reported on the Nominating Committee. They will present the slate next month for voting. She asked for recommendations for positions.
Program-Legacy Centennial Project- Liz showed us the plan for the Centennial Afghan. To be completed before February 2012. The background will be a dark color with petro glyph symbols representing Arizona History. The symbols will be done in intarsia type knitting. The Afghan will be done in squares by member volunteers. Liz will complete the border. A sign up sheet was passed around. Liz will have project details to provide to the volunteers at the April 2011 meeting of CNKG.
