Cactus Needles Knitting Guild
Meeting Minutes 11/3/2008

•    The meeting was called to order at 6:45 pm
•    Minutes were posted on-line, the minutes were passed as posted.
•    Mary greeted the membership, and welcomed guests.
•    Francine Ebersman conducted the altruistic update
      o    We received a thank you letter from the WWII Scarf Collection
      o    The next project to knit for is the Special Olympic.  Scarves must be out of Red Heart Super Saver    White and Delft Blue. We will be collecting scarves until the Jan. 5th meeting
      o    A new project Linus blanket to be done in garter strips was passed out.  Please plan to turn in strips at the January meeting
•    Bev conducted the Valley Events schedule
      o    11/14 Night Out in Mesa
      o    11/29 Tempe Yarn and Fiber will be making a Ronald McDonald House blanket from 8 – 11
      o    Purls in the Pines will open at the end of November in Flagstaff
      o    11/8 Knit Happens will have a wine tasting from 2-5pm
      o    Tucson Guild’s luncheon and fashion show will be on 1/17/2009, make your reservations now.
      o    The Shop Hop has been extended for 3 months and will include the whole state.  The launch date will be January.
•    Sandy is working on a photo gallery. 
      o    The newsletter launched on 10/20.  Next week is the deadline for any newsletter website articles.
      o    The Guild History page needs some assistance.
•    Old Business
      o    Francine gave an update regarding the holiday party.
•    Jackie Taylor will be the chair person this year

•    Location: Macaroni Grill at Scottsdale Rd & Shea
•    Cost: $25.00 p/member $30 p/non-member
•    Time: 6pm
•    Gifts for the Optional Gift exchange must be new, wrapped, between $10-$15
•    the Yarn exchange will be held at the January meeting
•    New Business
      o    Tape measures have been ordered for new members.  If current members want one the cost will be $1.00
      o    Judy will host an informal knit in public on Friday, 12/5 at Tempe Market Place
•    The program commenced with Liz Rees.  Liz shared about her experience of learning how to knit from a visually challenged Woman who was essentially blind.  Liz finished her program by sharing some of her lovely knitted lace.
•    The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
